HISTORY
Watford New Hope Trust was started in 1990 by two local housewives, Janet Hosier and Sheila Meaning. They were given a vision through the words of Isaiah 58 to 'feed the hungry and shelter the homeless' and started inviting the homeless they met outside St Mary's church into their homes.
Soon they were serving hot food and drinks out of two buses
on a site on Whippendell Road. Other local churches and community
groups got involved. With their help and the support of local
authorities, the Trust has grown significantly over the last
15 years.
It now employs 72 staff and has around 120 volunteers working
in 10 different projects around Watford.
It helps over 600 people a year and has a turnover of appox. £1.5 million.
